Amber Mottram

Amber graduated in Fine Art Sculpture this year from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. She is interested in the potential of painting as sculpture and the grey area between a 2 dimensional image and a 3 dimensional object, continually seeking to make her painting a physical as well as an optical experience.

The paint in Amber’s work is a material with substance, freed to show its properties as it flows and drops, on grid-like structures inspired by such things as drain hole covers and grates.

Amongst other achievements before her graduation, Amber was shortlisted for the 2009 Amsterdam Hans Brinker award.
