Charles Harrison

Born in Kenya in 1986, Charles graduated in 2007. Since his first sell out showing with Woodbine in the 2008 Spring Affordable Art Fair, the exciting developments of Charles’s work continue to attract admiration and collectors. An artist with tremendous creative energy and drive, he works from an instinct to understand being human. The figures in his paintings do not exist as any single entity but as depictions of his own human sensations, frailties and desires. He has said of his recent work:

“In these faces I am interested in developing a kind of abstract realism with paint. I cultivate and layer abstract techniques in mark making, colour and texture to form a realist image with spatial depths that connect mentally and physically to the viewer. Through this process I hope to restore an emotional response that mirrors the genuine sensation when two sets of eyes unite.”

His work is now held in numerous collections worldwide.
