Colin Carruthers

Colin lives and works in Birmingham, where he gained his Fine Art degree in 1997. He produces physical, energetic paintings of a constantly changing coastline. Evoking the shared experience of remembered coasts, yet open to personal interpretation; his multiple canvases, representing one scene, suggest more is hidden beyond their edges. Yet the negative space can actively draw one, as if through a window, to engage with the external world first viewed from inside. Colin's work is increasingly collected through the UK and Eire.
